Thank you from Supt. Johnson, PTSA News, COVID update & more
Posted on 04/30/2021

Dear Families:

As we close out another week, thank you for supporting the transition in our instructional models and for understanding the need at our K-6 level for the time to plan. I know those extra remote days were an added burden, but they were needed and well-utilized by our staff. We appreciate your on going support and ability to flex as circumstances warrant. Neither our staff nor you can do this alone. Thankfully, we have all worked in concert throughout the year to tackle the tough challenges. We could not have accomplished what we have for our children any other way.

Next week is Staff Appreciation Week. Many of you have reached out this year to share compliments about our staff and victories you had together. Our staff is the driving force behind the success and quality of our schools. They are extraordinary. Please join me in recognizing all staff for their unique and essential contributions, and if you feel compelled, take the opportunity to contact and share your thoughts with a staff member who made a difference for you or your child. That sentiment from our students and families means much more than any acknowledgment we could give.

One final communication note: As we settle into our new instructional models and with COVID cases in our District remaining low, starting next week we will switch to one weekly update later in the week.

MORE FOR 7-12 FAMILIES ON EVENT ATTENDANCE

We sent some details Monday about end-of-the-year events at IHS, such as prom, ball and graduation, and state requirements regarding attendees to such events providing proof of a recent negative COVID test OR proof of vaccination. As an update, the District is working on a plan to offer free testing prior to such events. That said, for students 16 and older who want to pursue being vaccinated, here is A LINK to do so.

FROM THE PTSA

Please take a moment to review the attachment to this email from the West Irondequoit Central PTSA. It includes information on awards, scholarship opportunities and the May 18th District Vote and Board of Education election. Vote/candidate election information is also available on our website at THIS LINK. Look in your mailboxes next week for our annual newsletter, “The Quote,” loaded with Budget Vote/election details.

COVID-19 CASE UPDATE

Since our last communication on Monday, April 26th, the Monroe County Department of Public Health has reported three new cases in our District: two students and one staff member at Irondequoit HS. Per federal privacy laws, we can’t disclose any more details or personally identifiable information. If you have questions, call the MCDPH Hotline at 753-5555.
