Monday Report for 4/19 from Supt. Johnson

Monday Report from Supt. Johnson for April 19th
Posted on 04/19/2021

Dear Families,

I want to thank everyone who has reached out to offer positive feedback or constructive thoughts on the Phased Reopening Plans we shared last week. We all come at this from different perspectives, so a varied response was no surprise because I know how much you care. Please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or a building principal with questions.

Here is another reminder for K-6 families: Thursday, April 29th, and Friday, April 30th will now be remote asynchronous learning days. Wednesday, April 28th remains as previously scheduled for students with some being remote and some in-person depending on their programming. Students will receive at-home learning tasks to complete on April 29-30.  This will give our staff enough time to prepare their classrooms and instructional plans.

Your continued cooperation and support is always appreciated.

STRATEGIC PLAN SURVEY/FOCUS GROUPS

We have partnered with the University of Rochester’s Warner School of Education to create a Strategic Plan that will guide the district’s work in the future. We are asking the community for critical feedback via a survey and to consider participating in Focus Groups on Tuesday, May 4th. Your input will help the UR team assess perceptions of our district, including strengths and weaknesses.

Access the anonymous survey via THIS LINK (it closes 4/28).

The Focus Groups will be highly interactive and confidential with a UR facilitator. They’re happening the evening of May 4th (one-hour meeting). If you’re interested, register by emailing public_info@westiron.monroe.edu. Please specify a time slot you prefer (5:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.) and if you’d like to attend via Zoom or in-person at District Office, 321 List Ave., in a room with everyone physically distanced.

COVID-19 CASE UPDATE

Since our last communication on Friday, April 16th, the Monroe County Department of Public Health has reported six new cases in our District: four Irondequoit High School students and two Iroquois Middle School students. Per federal privacy laws, we can’t disclose any more details or personally identifiable information. If you have questions, call the MCDPH Hotline at 753-5555.
