10/20: How to give input to the state to help students with Individualized Education Programs
Posted on 10/20/2021

To Families of Students with IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) and colleagues:

Please read below to learn how you as a parent/guardian, school administrator, educator and/or community member can help improve educational outcomes for students with disabilities.

Next February begins a new six-year cycle for the State Performance Plan (SPP) that evaluates efforts to implement the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. States must describe how they will improve results for students with disabilities. For this new cycle, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) is seeking broad stakeholder input on new targets and improvement activities. NYSED will host stakeholder sessions in November to gather input. The virtual sessions will be topic specific. Meetings will last about 2½ hours and held during the day and evenings to accommodate schedules.

Please consider participating to add your voice to this important work. For more information and/or to register, view the online surveys, or learn more about the SPP, visit: http://www.nysed.gov/special-education/ffy-2020-2025-spp-aprThe deadline to register is Sunday, Oct. 24.
