Mr. Joe Jackson was appointed the West Irondequoit Central School District’s Supervisor of Counseling, Student Equity and Wellness at Thursday’s Board of Education meeting. He is expected to start later this month in this newly created and critical role.

Mr. Jackson has spent the past 12 years working in four districts as a School Psychologist and Behavior Specialist at different grade levels. Most recently, he has worked the past eight years in the Webster CSD, serving as a Behavior Specialist for the district and a School Psychologist for Webster Schroeder High School. He also worked in that capacity at Schlegel Road Elementary in Webster and for the Cicero-North Syracuse, Gates Chili and Churchville-Chili districts.

“We are excited to welcome our new Supervisor of Counseling, Student Equity and Wellness. Mr. Jackson rose to the top of our rigorous screening and selection process due to his rich experience and background in pupil services,” said West Irondequoit CSD Superintendent, Dr. Aaron Johnson. “Current colleagues describe Mr. Jackson as a ‘dedicated and caring professional who loves working with children and serving others.’ His leadership in areas like community building and restorative practices will serve him well in this new role. We are excited to welcome a leader who will ensure all students receive unique supports and services to help them flourish.”

A graduate of Churchville-Chili Central Schools, Mr. Jackson owns a Bachelor of Science psychology degree from SUNY Brockport, a Masters degree in School Psychology from Roberts Wesleyan College and recently earned his K-12 Building and District Level Leadership Certificate of Advanced Study from the University of Rochester. He holds several other certificates, including one on Restorative Practices – a key initiative at West Irondequoit – in Community Building and Discipline.

Mr. Jackson and his wife, Kate, reside in Spencerport. Kate works in Educational Policy at the University of Rochester.
