Today our community got a first look at a series of banners designed by IHS students as they were installed along the gateway to our main campus. What a wonderful welcome to our schools!
How did the banners come to be? Let's go back to the beginning of the story.
Last fall, a resident wrote to Superintendent Crane and suggested that we consider adding banners in front of our main campus. In February, the superintendent visited Ms. Lauren Reinert's Graphic Design class and proposed a challenge. Could the students design a series of banners to be hung along Cooper Rd. that would reflect our district values?
The class worked on the designs for several months with their customer, Superintendent Crane, visiting the class to provide feedback on concept ideas. Students chose the themes and created the designs. The themes are: creativity, diversity, tradition, pride, spirit, vigor, peak performance, integrity and each child belongs to all of us. There are nine students in the class; there are nine unique banners. Many thanks to the Town of Irondequoit for installing the banners and to RG&E for granting permission to use their light poles.
The designers for the project are:
Amanda Araujo Libby Bell Riley Broderick Samantha Buckley
Corinne Cummings Erica Daniels Juliana Rizzo Laila Shuaibi
