IHS Students Recognized by National Merit Scholarship Competition

Three Irondequoit High School seniors, Benjamin Detty, Megan Supple and Emily Walsh, have been named 2008 National Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Competition. The program, which began in 1955, recognizes students who have achieved high scores on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. These students are now eligible to apply for finalist status in the scholarship program. Merit Scholarship Awards are granted to 8,200 out of the approximately 1.5 million students who take the test each year.
