Irondequoit High School’s Business Education Department was named the region’s best by the New York State Education Department (NYSED). Jon Greenwalt of the NYS Education Department recently informed the staff of this accomplishment earlier this week.

An application was completed by the Business Education staff at IHS back in April. The application included answers to 13 specific questions relating to the program of study offered at the high school around Business Education.

NYSED arranged a committee to review each school's application, and complimented IHS on its dedication to student learning.

Congratulations on being chosen as one of the thirteen "2009 Departments of the Year.”  In addition to winning this year, the committee also remarked that this is actually the 3rd time that your department has won this prestigious award.   The selection panel was very impressed with the high quality of your business program and your department’s collective dedication to students.

IHS will be formally recognized and presented a plaque for it’s achievement at the Business Teacher’s Association conference in Rochester on October 16th at the Radisson Hotel Rochester Riverside (http://www.btanys.org/PDF/Program_Flyer.pdf ).
