IHS Hosts Academic Information Night

January 5, 2009

Irondequoit High School invites all parents of 8th through 11th graders in West Irondequoit to attend its annual Academic Information Night for Parents, at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12.

Parents of current 8th-graders at Dake Junior High School will start the evening in the auditorium for a presentation on 9th-grade course selection, graduation planning, and the keys to success in high school. Speakers will include IHS Principal Patrick McCue, Dake Principal Tim Terranova, and the Dake counselors, who will walk parents through each step of the high school course selection and four-year planning process. During the second half of the program at 7:45, 8th-grade parents can visit a course fair with teachers and administrators from all the academic departments. Teachers will be available to answer questions and discuss the course offerings, elective options, and choices that will best match students' interests and goals. All 8th-grade parents are strongly encouraged to attend.

High school parents will begin with the course fair. They are then invited to the auditorium at 7:45 to hear about IHS's nationally recognized Advanced Placement program and the many elective options available to students as they prepare for college and the workplace.
